Metadata Remover - Photo EXIF — Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 16, 2026
Metadata Remover - Photo EXIF ("the App") is developed by Mobile Card Games & Travel Apps LLC. It is available for iOS on the App Store and for Android on Google Play; this Privacy Policy covers both versions and explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and how your privacy is protected. Where the two platforms behave differently, the difference is called out.
1. Data We Collect
Metadata Remover reads and strips EXIF metadata (such as GPS coordinates, camera details, and timestamps) from photos entirely on your device. The App works with:
- Photos you choose: Photos you select from your photo library or gallery, take with the camera, or share into the App from other apps (via the iOS Share and iMessage extensions, or the Android share menu). All metadata reading and removal happens on your device — your photos are never uploaded to any server. The App contains no code that transmits your images.
- Purchase information: Transaction records for the optional Pro upgrade, managed by Apple (iOS) or Google Play (Android) together with RevenueCat.
The App does not collect your name, email address, advertising identifiers, analytics data, or any other personal information. There are no ads and no tracking.
2. Location
The App handles location data in limited ways:
- GPS data embedded in your photos: When a photo contains GPS EXIF data, the App can show that location as a pin on a map and display a human-readable address. On iOS, the map and reverse geocoding are provided by Apple's Maps services under Apple's privacy policy. On Android, the map image is loaded from OpenStreetMap tile servers operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation (the request identifies the map area around the photo's coordinates), and the address comes from Android's built-in geocoding service, processed by Google under Google's privacy policy. In both cases the coordinate comes from the photo you chose; it is never sent to us, stored by us, or used for any other purpose.
- Your current location (iOS only, optional): If you take a photo with the in-app camera on iOS and grant location permission, your current location can be shown with the photo. It stays on your device. The Android App requests no location permission at all; photos taken through the Android camera flow may contain metadata written by your camera app, which the App then shows you and removes.
Removing metadata from a photo strips its GPS data, which is the App's core purpose.
3. Third-Party Data Sharing
Your photos are never shared with anyone. The only third parties involved are:
- Apple (iOS): Processes in-app purchases and, as described above, the map display and reverse geocoding of GPS coordinates found in your photos.
- Google (Android): Processes Google Play in-app purchases and, as described above, converts photo GPS coordinates to a readable address via Android's built-in geocoder.
- OpenStreetMap Foundation (Android): Serves the map imagery shown when a photo contains GPS data. Its tile servers receive standard web-request data (the requested map area and your IP address) under the OSMF privacy policy.
- RevenueCat (revenuecat.com): Manages the Pro purchase on both platforms. RevenueCat receives purchase transaction tokens and a random anonymous app-user ID — never your name, email, or photos.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.
4. Data Storage and Retention
- On your device: Photos are processed in memory and cleaned copies are saved back to your photo library or gallery. Settings and purchase status are stored locally. On Android, the App's settings (never your photos) may be included in your device's standard Google backup, which is controlled by your Google account.
- On our servers: None. We do not operate any server that receives data from this App, and the App does not use iCloud or any cloud storage of ours.
- Deletion: uninstalling the App deletes its settings; cleaned photos saved to your photo library remain there under your control until you delete them.
5. Data Security
Because your photos and their metadata are processed entirely on your device and never transmitted, there is no photo data in transit or at rest on any server to secure. Purchase transactions are handled over Apple's, Google's, and RevenueCat's encrypted connections; the App never sees your payment card details. Map-tile and geocoding requests described above are made over encrypted connections.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Deny camera, photo/media, media-location, or location permissions at any time in your device's system settings (iOS Settings or Android Settings); the App only accesses photos you explicitly choose.
- Remove all App data by uninstalling the App.
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) give you rights over your personal data, including the rights to know, access, correct, and delete it. Because we do not hold your data on servers we operate, there is typically nothing for us to access or delete on request — deleting the App deletes your data. Where the App does process data in transit, or a third-party service described above collects data, you may contact us at the email below to exercise your rights, and we will respond as required by applicable law.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. In some regions, including the European Union, a higher minimum age applies to consent for data processing; the same statement applies there — we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the applicable age.
8. Data Breach Notification
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting user data on any system we operate, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
